I know this is kind of late, but did any of you go to the God Bless Matador concert on July 4 in NYC? SM & Jicks were supporting Yo La Tengo. They were awesome! For those who went, what did you think?

Anyone at Jicks in Cleveland yesterday? They were totally fantastic. I was right up front, which was quite awesome. I didn't bring my camera in, which sucked because cameras were allowed. I'll be beating myself up over that for weeks. Entry on my personal LJ about the show if you're interested.

So, is anybody seeing Stephen/Jix in concert this summer?

Me, personally: June 9th at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland. Hell yes.

I like the new SM album.

It just doesn't sound like our much-loved Stephen.

It sounds like him if he had some sort of love child with The Arcade Fire that managed to not suck and be an assface despite being the spawn of The Arcade Fire.

Does that make any sense?

I like it, it just isn't Malkmus. And that's disappointing.

I know most of you probably already read wowee_zowee, but apprendere posted this:

stevesie's ladyfriend has got a bun in the oven. also, according to matador's website, his new album is due in may. here's what the site has to say:

"On May 24, Matador will be releasing the 3rd post-Pavement album from Stephen Malkmus, 'Face The Truth', on the every popular compact disc and phonograph long player configurations. 'Face The Truth', Stephen's first bona fide solo recording, captures our favorite singer-songwriter at the height of his creative powers. We can say with total confidence that some of SM's wittiest moments to date are found on this album, along with many of his most heartfelt. An album of staggering lyrical and musical range, 'Face The Truth' is unlikey to be supported by heavy touring (what with Stephen's pending dad-to-be status), but selected US dates are planned, along with a headlining appearance at Matador's SXSW event (March 18, The Parish, Austin).

the track listing is as follows:

1. Invisible Bodies
2. Baby C'mon
3. Horslip
4. Mmmmm...
5. Loud Cloud Crowd
6. No More Shoes
7. Mama
8. Malediction
9. Pencil Rot
10. It Kills
11. I've Hardly Been"

Kickass, right?!
